Obviously picking the correct numbers is a big start, but after researching interviews with former lottery winners we began to notice a pattern…
Here are five winners and their tip for a jackpot take-down!
Cynthia won big with the California Lottery – $112 million, in fact. She says that “I remember thinking that this money was coming at precisely the right time—and that I had willed it into my possession”.
She even goes on to detail her routine when buying a lottery ticket;
“My trick? Whenever I bought my ticket, I would visualize winning. At first, I picked my own numbers. But then, as I would visualize the money as my own, I’d pick whatever quick, random numbers flashed into my head.”
And even though Cynthia is now a millionaire a hundred times over, she still plays the lottery!
Positive thinking also did the trick for Neil Trotter from Coulsdon, Surrey. Neil declared at work that “this time” he’d be a millionaire, and that night he discovered that he’d won €122m in the EuroMillions draw. Easy peasy.
“I’ve always thought I’d win big and I’d had a good feeling all week” said Neil.
Aaron was having Christmas dinner with his family and posing for some pretend, light-hearted “I’ve won the lottery” photos with his National Lottery ticket.
But when it came to draw time that evening the light-heartedness turned into a ‘scream and a dance’ according to Aaron, as he bagged himself a cool million.
Perhaps wisely this mystery man from Leinster chose to remain anonymous after winning €2.4 million on the Irish Lotto, but he did have some pearls of wisdom for the rest of us.
“Positive thinking is part of my philosophy in life – even in my outlook in playing the Lotto. I knew every time I won a small amount, or even won nothing, that I was getting closer to the moment when I would win.”
The Legend of Leinster says after paying off his mortgage and creating a trust fund for his family members, he plans to support the local charities closest to his heart.
Legend status: confirmed.
When your luck’s in, your luck’s in.
It was January 2018 and Shane Missler from Florida had just won a few dollars on a scratchcard. He opted to use that money to pay for a Mega Millions lottery ticket, and see how far his luck and positive outlook could take him.
You can see exactly where this is going.
282 million dollars later, Shane posted this:
As he began trending on Twitter that positive outlook was being recognised.
Shane later said that “those who maintain a positive mindset and stay true to themselves get rewarded”.
Rather than yearly payouts, Shane opted for a one-time lump sum payment of $281,875,999 and plans to “use it to pursue a variety of passions, help my family and do some good for humanity”.
Good work Shane!
